Upcoming event with Sir Ian Wood sells out

Oil & Gas UK’s latest breakfast briefing, featuring Sir Ian Wood, has sold out the Boyd Orr Hall at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC).

Speaking publically for the first time since the release of his final report into Maximising Recovery from the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) last month, Sir Ian will be interviewed onstage by Oil & Gas UK chief executive Malcolm Webb, addressing over 700 delegates from Aberdeen’s oil and gas community. At the event, sponsored by Petrotechnics, Sir Ian will take questions from the audience, outlining his proposals and the opportunities and challenges facing the new industry regulator.

Malcolm Webb commented: “The Wood Report is a seminal moment in the history of the UK oil and gas industry. It calls for radical change and reform on the part of government and industry alike, and provides a clear prescription to maximise the productive life of the UKCS. It presents a range of significant challenges for all those involved but equally offers the real prospect of success.

"Sir Ian's work is largely done. It is now for all of us – in government and in industry - to properly implement the plan and realise Sir Ian’s vision as a reality. The rewards for all will be significant but this could also be a last chance and so failure cannot be contemplated."

Stephen Marcos Jones, business development director, Oil & Gas UK added: “We are delighted, but not surprised, this event has proved to be so popular. Sir Ian Wood’s final recommendations will be game changing for our industry. The audience for our breakfast briefings has almost doubled in the past decade – a real sign of both a buoyant industry and growth in Oil & Gas UK’s membership.”

Phil Murray, CEO of breakfast briefing sponsor Petrotechnics commented: “Petrotechnics welcomes the Wood Review’s commitment to industry-wide safety and we are proud to be sponsoring this event that will bring together professionals from across the sector to hear Sir Ian discuss this critical report in depth and engage in debate.”

Guests at the breakfast briefing will hear the full story behind this ground-breaking report on 27 March, 2014 at the AECC. Whilst capacity has now been reached, those requesting a place on the waiting list should contact hlidgate@oilandgasuk.co.uk
