DOE's Stakeholder Engagement and Outreach initiative will host a webinar presenting the topic of wind turbines and property values. Lead author Carol Atkinson-Palombo, assistant professor at the University of Connecticut, will present on her research from the recently released report The Relationship Between Wind Turbines and Residential Property Values in Massachusetts. Ben Hoen, staff research associate at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, will present findings from the report A Spatial Hedonic Analysis of the Effects of Wind Energy Facilities on Surrounding Property Values in the United States.
Their research examined 122,000 Massachusetts real estate transactions between 1998 and 2012, and 50,000 U.S. transactions between 1996 and 2011, respectively. The authors will provide an overview of each of the report's methods and findings and will answer questions after the presentations.
