Corky Lee, 'unofficial Asian American photographer laureate'

For almost 40 years, New York-based photographer Corky Lee — dubbed the  “undisputed unofficial Asian American photographer laureate” — has captured iconic images of Asian Pacific Americans in political movements and social contexts, including the one shown here of Jimmy Kirikatani, former homeless artist and Japanese internment camp internee. Lee comes to campus on Thursday, Feb. 20, 5-7 p.m., to show his photos and discuss his work in a UC Regents Lecture at the Public Affairs Building, Room 2355. Presented by the UCLA Asian American Studies Department, Urban Planning Department, Asian Pacific Coalition and Asian American Studies Center. Learn more about Lee at this Queens Museum of Art website. R.S.V.P. to the free UCLA event here.
