FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - December 13, 2013 - Megabusiness LLC of Danbury, CT is recalling Del Campo Papa seca / DRY POTATO 24x14 oz. because they contain undeclared sulfites. People who have a severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume these products.
Del Campo Papa Seca / DRY Potato is packed in a 14 oz. plastic bag and sold in a case of 24 bags. The UPC code is 891726000218 and the expiration date is June 2014. Product was distributed in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut Illinois and it reached consumers through retail stores.
The recall was initiated after routine sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by the Departments Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in the product, which were not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics, Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. Analysis of the Del Campo Papa seca / DRY POTATO 24x14 oz. revealed it contained 106.28 milligrams per serving.
