Learn What Most Schools Don’t Teach… and Win an EA Game

Computer Science Education Week is underway and has officially launched their computer science initiative Hour of Code that encourages students to do just that spend an hour to learn the basics of computer science.

This year, the first US students in grades K-8 who go the extra mile and complete the 20-hour course that introduces core computer science and programming concepts can win prizes, including EA games! Students can select from four EA favorites via Origin: Bejeweled 3, FIFA Soccer 13, SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition and Plants vs. Zombies on PC.

PopCap is also lending support to the initiative with some of their favorite characters from Plants vs. Zombies integrated into the student tutorials.

Here at EA, we have a huge demand for videogame professionals with coding experience but theres a big divide between the number of students entering the field and industry demand. has found that by 2020, there will be 1.4 million computing jobs in the US but only 400,000 computer science students. Thats why were excited to join with other leading technology companies in working with to help encourage students to fill that gap.
