TrackingTheWorld Launches Light Detector Accessory for GPS Tracking Systems
Light detector accessory works with GPS tracking devices and sends alerts when packages are opened.
BURLINGAME, CA, USA, December 4, 2013 /EINPresswire.com/ -- TrackingTheWorld recently designed and is building the LightTrack, a light detecting device to be used as an accessory to GPS tracking systems used to track shipments.Jude Daggett, CTO of TrackingTheWorld, said the development of the light detecting device came at the request of customers wanting a reliable system for detecting when tracked packages are opened. “The LightTrack accessory is available only through TrackingTheWorld,” said Daggett.
When a package is opened, the device senses the presence of light and triggers the GPS tracker to send a report providing time and location details. The LightTrack provides an added level of security and information availability for shipping retail merchandise, electronics, or other valuable items.
Logistics providers are able to use the information obtained from the device to ascertain at which location during shipping packages are opened and goods stolen. “When shipments travel thousands of miles, we previously could only speculate at what point in the route packages were tampered with. Now, we can very reliably detect when and where it occurred,” said Daggett. After the LightTrack is activated due to light exposure, it will continue to operate for three to seven days depending on reporting intervals set by the user.
Measuring 2 in. x 2.5 in. x 1 in, the compact device connects to a GPS tracker via a mini-USB port, and requires a 9-volt battery for operation. While designed to work with most trackers, a one-time engineering modification may be required for some models. With the use of GPS tracking software, users may select to receive a text message alert or email when LightTrack is activated. “LightTrack and the specialized reporting options of our GPS tracking software, create an ideal combination for secure shipping,” said Daggett.
A limited number of LightTrack prototypes are now available on a first-come-first-served basis for $49 ea. To order, or request more information, please contact TrackingTheWorld at 650-692-8100.
