Faith and healing
Spiritual belief often plays a significant role alongside the miracles of modern medicine as patients struggle to deal with life-threatening illnesses. At UCLA’s two hospitals, doctors, nurses and chaplains work as an integrated care team. More and more, faith is being introduced into physician training as medicine’s focus shifts toward more holistic treatment of patients.
One hospital chaplain sees his role as helping to empower people to adapt to their circumstances and draw on their faith to face an uncertain future with hope and courage.
