SM Enterprise Issues Allergy Alert for Fruit of Wolfberry, 12 Oz Plastic Bag due to Undeclared Sulfites

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Novemeber 12 , 2013 - SM Enterprise of Bayonne, NJ is recalling all lots of Fruit of Wolfberry in 12 oz plastic bag packages. People who have allergies to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled Fruit of Wolfberry in 12 oz plastic bag packages were distributed in retail stores in New York during June 2013 to August 2013.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered by NYDSAM that the sulfites-containing product was distributed in packages that did not reveal the presence of sulfites. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by lack of supplier’s knowledge about sulfites declaration on packages.

Consumers who have purchased Fruit of Wolfberry in 12 oz plastic bag packages are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 201-332-8878. (Monday to Friday, 10AM-5PM, Eastern Time Zone).
