Britain’s Offshore Oil and Gas Celebrated in New Publication

The story behind one of Britain’s most important natural resources is told in the revised Edition of Britain’s Oil and Gas, published in November 2013 by Oil & Gas UK.

The new publication is a comprehensive guide one to of the UK’s greatest industrial success stories, taking readers from the geological development of the source rock millions of years ago, to the activities of the multi-billion pound exploration and production industry off the shore of the British Isles.

Much of Britain’s prosperity has been founded on the country’s rich reserves of oil and gas lying below the seabed on the UK Continental Shelf. This resource provides the energy and essential by-products for our transport, industry and homes as well as supporting 450,000 jobs throughout the UK. This is in addition to providing valuable tax and export revenues that support the British economy.
