Aberdeen Journals' Editor-in-Chief to Speak at Oil & Gas UK Awards
Oil & Gas UK is delighted to announce that Damian Bates, editor of the Press and Journal and editor-in-chief at Aberdeen Journals Limited, will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Oil & Gas UK Awards.
The Oil & Gas UK Awards, sponsored by Shell U.K. Limited, will celebrate the oil and gas industry’s brightest stars. The annual awards ceremony will take place at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on 7 November 2013.
Damian is the recently appointed editor-in-chief at Aberdeen Journals Ltd, having become editor of the Press and Journal in March 2011. On the evening he will be sharing his view on the oil and gas this industry and its progress.
Oil & Gas UK’s chief executiv, Malcolm Web, stated:

The Press and Journal is amongst the most expert and respected of newspapers reporting on our sector and so we are delighted this year to welcome its editor Damian Bates to be our guest of honour and deliver the Keynote address.

In addition to the Press and Journal, Damian has overall editorial responsibility for the Evening Express, Citizen and ScotAds. He joined Aberdeen Journals in August 2003, as deputy editor of the Evening Express, having previously worked as assistant editor at the Telegraph and Argus in Bradford. The Press and Journal - which dates back to 1747 - is a regional daily newspaper for the north and north east of Scotland.
