City of Palo Alto Adds 1.4 MW with Landfill Gas-to-Energy
Ameresco has completed design, permitting, and construction of a new landfill gas-to-energy project at the Johnson Canyon landfill in Gonzales, California. The Salina Valley Solid Waste Authority (SVSWA) owns the 1.4 MW facility and has entered into an agreement to sell the gas generated by the landfill to Ameresco. Operation and maintenance of the gas-to-energy plant will be handled by Ameresco which will use generators to convert captured gas into electricity and then will sell that electricity to the City of Palo Alto. The City entered into a similar agreement in 2009 when Ameresco constructed a 3.8 MW facility at Keller Canyon Landfill in Bay Point, California.
