Brisa Bridgestone Sabancı to Evaluate Passenger Car Tire Plant Investment Opportunities in Turkey
Tokyo (September 19, 2013) - Bridgestone Corporation today announced that Brisa Bridgestone Sabancı Lastik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. (Brisa), Bridgestone's affiliated company, is evaluating the future investment of a new passenger car radial tire plant in Turkey. In addition to the company's existing tire plant in İzmit which manufactures passenger car radial tires, truck and bus radial tires etc., the new plant would be the company's second manufacturing facility in Turkey. As part of the evaluation process, Brisa will begin evaluating potential sites for the plant.
Turkey has a high rate of growth in GDP, and a sound demographic composition (population of approximately 75 million/average age of 28.8 years). Additionally, tire demand in Turkey is expected to grow in the future. Brisa was established in 1988 as a joint venture with Sabancı Holding, Turkey's leading industrial and financial conglomerate.
