WHEATON, IL, USA, September 13, 2013 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Naperville Area CPA firm of Dugan & Lopatka and the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce are hosting a presentation on building great non-profit boards, featuring Peter Fissinger. The event takes place on Friday, September 20 from 7:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Hilton Lisle/Naperville. The event is part of Dugan & Lopatka's continuing annual education program. Cost to attend the event is $30 for Naperville Area Chamber Members and $40 for future Chamber Members. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.

The speaker, Peter Fissinger, has more than 25 years of professional experience in institutional advancement and has served a wide range of nonprofit institutions, including educational institutions, art organizations and healthcare institutions. In a fast-paced and interactive presentation, Fissinger will share valuable lessons on how to build and keep a great not-for-profit board.

“As Peter says, great boards don’t just happen. Instead, they develop over time through carefully conceived strategies. The problem is non-profit managers don't always know which strategies work and which ones don't work. We've brought Peter in to share some of his insights and ideas. These are proven strategies that attendees can be implement right away," said Karen Olson, Principal, Dugan & Lopatka (www.duganlopatka.com).

During this interactive program, Peter will share valuable tactics that can help develop nonprofit boards over time. This includes:
• Articulating the board member’s role and responsibilities
• Identifying prospective board members with the right background, capability and passion
• Meeting proactively with prospective board members before inviting them to join the board
• Providing strong orientation to new board members
• And, measuring the board’s impact
