CHICAGO, IL, USA, September 4, 2013 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Peck Bloom, LLC Managing Partner, and professional elder care lawyer in Chicago, Kerry Peck was a featured guest at this year's Protection and Advocacy Conference, hosted by the Illinois Department on Aging. The conference featured a collection of professionals in the field of aging, sharing their knowledge and expertise.

Peck participated in a panel titled "Duties of Fiduciaries", which outlined the responsibilities for those entrusted with the financial care of another. The presentation was based on four national guides soon to be issued by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) through a contract with the American Bar Association Commission on Law and Aging.

"It was a pleasure to participate in this wonderful event. Fiduciary responsibilities can be both complicated and overwhelming, so I was excited to have the opportunity to present these new guides to our colleagues in the elder care field. The goal of our presentation was to clearly outline the key points in the CFPB guides that explain the four types of fiduciaries and their responsibilities," said Kerry Peck, Managing Partner of Peck Bloom, LLC (www.peckbloom.com).

Along with Peck, the panel included Lori Stiegel from the American Bar Association Commission on Law & Aging, Howard Berk, from the Illinois Disability Association, and Wendy Cappettetto from the Office of the Public Guardian of Cook County. Their presentation was the last to be given during the three-day conference at the Chicago Oak Brook Hills Marriot, which took place July 31st through August 2nd.

In addition to the four general fiduciary guides, the CFPB, through its collaboration with the Commission on Law and Aging, and with the assistance of state experts, will soon publish state-specific guides in six states, including one for residents of Illinois.

"It's up to all of us to fully understand how changes in law or new information might affect those who entrust us with their care. Whether we're elder law attorneys in Chicago, work with the disabled or care for a loved one, it's vital to understand our responsibilities and I'm looking forward to seeing these guides find their way to the public so they can better understand how these complex care relationships work," Peck said.
