  • Multi-year partnership kicks-off with the 2013-2014 USC football season.

Fort Mill, S.C. – August 27, 2013.  The University of Southern California (USC) Athletics Department and Continental Tire announced today that they have reached a multi-year agreement that names Continental Tire the “Official Tire of USC Athletics.”

The agreement was facilitated by USC Sports Properties, the FOX-owned sales entity that manages the marketing and media rights on behalf of USC Athletics.

“We’re proud to partner with a national brand like USC and become part of the Trojan community,” said Travis Roffler, director of marketing for Continental Tire.  “We feel the performance of our Continental Tire line of products aligns perfectly with the prestige of USC and we look forward to supporting its athletic programs in 2013 and beyond.”

Continental Tire will have a very heavy presence in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum during USC football games. Its in-stadium branding will include signage in both end zones, as well as other creative branding in the venue. In addition to the game-day presence, Continental Tire will also receive a variety of multi-media sponsorship entitlements to support the partnership. This includes an in-game video board feature, the use of USC Athletics marks and logos in advertisements and promotions, and online exposure via email blasts and website banners, in compliance with NCAA rules and guidelines.

USC Athletics USC has one of the nation’s most successful athletic programs.  Trojan teams have won 120 national championships (95 men’s, including a national-best 82 NCAA titles, and 25 women’s), more than all but 2 other schools.  USC’s men athletes have won more individual NCAA titles (309) than any other school (the Women of Troy have another 70 individual NCAA crowns).  Troy has more Olympians, medalists and gold medalists than any school:  since 1904, 419 Trojans have competed in the Games, winning 135 gold medals (with at least 1 gold in every summer Olympics from 1912), 87 silver and 64 bronze.  Four Trojans have won the prestigious Sullivan Award as America’s top amateur athlete: diver Sammy Lee (1953), shot putter Parry O’Brien (1959) and swimmers John Naber (1977) and Janet Evans (1989).  Two Women of Troy have won the Honda-Broderick Cup as the top collegiate woman athlete of the year:  Cheryl Miller (1983-84) and Angela Williams (2001-02).  Trojan women have won 15 Honda Awards, as their sport’s top female athlete.  USC student-athletes have received 52 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships (in the Top 10 among all schools) and Troy has had 31 first team Academic All-Americans and 4 athletes who were Rhodes Scholars.  USC fields 21 intercollegiate teams, 9 men’s (football, basketball, baseball, track and field, swimming and diving, tennis, golf, water polo, volleyball) and 12 women’s (basketball, track and field, swimming and diving, tennis, golf, water polo, volleyball, rowing, cross country, lacrosse, sand volleyball).
