ISTANBUL, TURKEY, August 21, 2013 /EINPresswire.com/ -- A gas compressor facility in Istanbul went online recently, a move that will aid gas transmission from east Turkey to west. This will be beneficial to the western regions where the consumption is much higher. Commenting on this development Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said, “A healthier gas flow will be maintained between our country’s east and west” reported Hurriyet Daily News. Natural gas is one of the most reliable fuels with numerous applications and with roughly half the carbon dioxide emissions as other fossil fuels is one of the cleaner alternatives. Today natural gas is used for purposes like heating, power generation and district cooling world over. Gas industry is undergoing a lot of advancements with respect to gas transportation, gas storage and infrastructure. With new investment opportunities opening up through global initiatives the gas industry is all set to grow.The Global Gas Opportunities Summit, organized by Fleming Gulf Conferences will track the latest developments in the industry along with other cross border hurdles like exploration, gas field developments and effective transportation. The summit is supported by Natural Gas Distribution Companies Association of Turkey - GAZBIR that performs all technical, legal and social activities within the context of its objectives and goals. GAZBIR was founded in September 2004 in Istanbul and is a non profit national association representing 52 licensed natural gas distribution companies. As of today in Turkey 64 city distribution licenses have been given and 65 cities have started to use natural gas. GAZBIR which has got the membership of the International Gas Union (IGU), Eurogas and Marcogaz is active on local and international level monitoring all industry developments.
Panel discussions on developments in the gas industry worldwide; infrastructure investment: analysis and opportunities, gas pricing, contracting and subsidization will be held at the summit along with three case studies and two workshops on the final day. The key topics to be covered at the summit include political risk analysis in gas industry, designing efficient gas networks, pipeline integrity and alternative sources of clean energy. Speakers at the summit are representing organizations like TAQA Arabia, National Gas Company SAOG, Emirates Gas LLC, Petronas, Cedigaz, Naturgaz, Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) and IGDAS Turkey. The summit will be held at Sheraton Istanbul Ataköy Hotel and will be an excellent opportunity for the attendees to learn how natural gas will influence the future and the growth of the global gas industry.
