Stewart Nichol of BEL Valves Announced as Third ‘Energising the Nation’s Future’ Campaign Winner

‘Energising the Nation’s Future’, the nationwide awareness campaign to improve recognition and understanding of the oil and gas industry, today announced that Stewart Nichol, Project Manager at BEL Valves, is the third recipient of a state-of-the-art tablet as part of its monthly prize-giveaway.

Throughout the campaign, Oil & Gas UK is giving away a Samsung Galaxy Tablet, drawn at random from those who register on the campaign website.

Commenting on the win, Stewart Nichol, Project Manager at BEL Valves, said: “I've been involved in mechanical engineering for nearly 20 years and I’m extremely proud to work in oil and gas. Our industry showcases some of the best of UK innovation and technology and is admired the world over. I fully support ‘Energising the Nation’s Future’ and would encourage as many people who work in oil and gas to register as part of the campaign. It’s an industry that deserves more recognition.”

The ‘Energising the Nation’s Future’ campaign focuses on three key attributes of the oil and gas industry: innovation, skilled job creation and economic contribution.

Since the campaign launched on 30 April, oil and gas industry employees have been registering their interest online, mapping their location and relationship to the sector, and sharing their experiences. This information is helping to build a comprehensive picture of the industry’s UK-wide network of skilled workers and celebrating the breadth of the supply chain supported by the sector.

Malcolm Webb, chief executive of Oil & Gas UK, added: “The oil and gas sector is incredibly diverse, supporting companies and communities up and down the UK. This month’s winner is a case in point – Stewart works for BEL Valves, headquartered in Newcastle. The north-east of England has long-been a vital engineering and manufacturing hub for the UK with strong links to the oil and gas industry. The industry’s reach is much broader than many people realise and highlighting its regional, as well as national significance, is a very important part of the ‘Energising the Nation’s Future’ campaign.”

The next winner will be announced in September. Good luck. For more information about the campaign, please visit: Energising the Nation’s Future.
