WASHINGTON, D.C., Aug. 6, 2013 — Members of the American Bar Association Section of Environment, Energy and Resources will bring their nationwide public service initiative, “One Million Trees Project,” to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park on Aug. 8 during the ABA Annual Meeting.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to leave a lasting impression on San Francisco and to further the American Bar Association’s 1 million trees goal by 2014,” says Alexandra D. Dunn, chair of the Section of Environment, Energy and Resources. “Every city in which we meet we try to give something back to the community. It is one way lawyers can make a difference.”

Established in March 2009, this project calls on ABA members to plant trees with the goal of reaching 1 million trees across the United States by 2014.

This service will be a beautification project where ABA lawyers will roll up their sleeves and help restore plant life and green landscape at Golden Gate Park. Volunteers can RSVP by completing the RSVP online form.

ABA members are encouraged to contribute to the One Million Trees Project by planting trees in their communities or by using the project’s dedicated website to purchase trees that will be planted by one of several project partners. Lawyers working with these partner organizations can designate the areas in which their trees are planted.

Reporters can register online for the 2013 ABA Annual Meeting. Press badges can be picked up at the meeting registration area, located in the Exhibition Hall on the first floor of the Moscone Center West, beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8. During the Annual Meeting, a press room for accredited journalists will be open on the second floor, in Overlook 2014, starting at 9 a.m. on Aug. 8. Thereafter, the press room will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will close one hour after the House of Delegates adjourns on Aug. 13.
