Fort Mill, S.C. – August 2, 2013.  The 21-inch wheel option of Tesla’s Model S premium electric sedan comes outfitted with Continental tires. The upgraded wheel option comes with the 245/35 R 21 Continental ExtremeContact™ DW tire to handle the instant torque and low center of gravity of the award-winning Model S. This dynamic ultra-high performance summer tire is an excellent combination with the 100 percent electric car that was designed and built with premium performance in mind.

The Continental ExtremeContact™ DW provides a driver with excellent traction and responsive handling in both dry and wet conditions.  In addition to the 21” fitment, the ExtremeContact™ DW comes in sizes ranging from 16” – 21”.  The DW Tuned Performance Indicators, built into the second rib of the tread, are designed to alert drivers of the tire’s optimal performance level in both dry and wet conditions ultimately providing improved ride comfort.  The performance of this tire matches up nicely with the demands of the rear-wheel drive performance sedan that travels 0-60 mph in as little as 4.4 seconds.  According to Tesla, the Model S is 100 percent electric, produces zero emissions, and has an EPA 5-cycle test range of 265 miles between charges (with the 85 kWh battery) making this combination environmentally friendly as well as fun to drive.

The Tesla Model S with Continental’s ExtremeContact™ DW is available nationwide and in Canada.  For more information on Tesla’s Model S, visit www.teslamotors.com.  To find a Continental Tire dealer or for more information on the ExtremeContact™ DW (sizes 16’ – 21”), visit www.continentaltire.com.
