CHICAGO, May 20, 2013 – The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania will host an orientation and training program for interns of the American Bar Association Judicial Intern Opportunity Program.

JIOP, a program of the ABA Section of Litigation, works to improve the diversity of the profession by placing minority and economically disadvantaged law students, who are traditionally underrepresented in the legal profession, in internships with federal and state judges. The program also provides opportunities to students with disabilities and who identify themselves as LGBT.

Speakers at the May 28 event include Judges Legrome D. Davis and Juan R. Sánchez of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, as well as attorneys Danielle Banks, Stradley Ronon Stevens Young LLP; Wendy Beetlestone, Hangley Aronchick Segal Pudlin Schiller; Stefan Ellis and Derek Hines, both of Pepper Hamilton LLP; Ramya Kasturi, clerk to U.S. District Court Judge Eduardo C. Robreno; Kassem L. Lucas and Noor Taj, both of Pepper Hamilton LLP; and Sozi P. Tulante, assistant U.S. attorney in Philadelphia, Criminal Division.

Hangley Aronchick Segal Pudlin Schiller shareholder Michele D. Hangley, a regional co-chair of JIOP, and Lawrence Fox of Drinker Biddle Reath LLP will moderate the program.
