Cooperative Agreement Awarded to National Conference of State Legislatures
Cincinnati - The Department of Energy (DOE) today awarded a $4.2 million, five-year cooperative agreement to the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), Denver, Colorado to continue their successful partnership with DOE to provide state legislators, legislative staff, and tribal government leaders with information about policies and programs of DOE’s Office of Environmental Management (EM), Office of Indian Energy (IE), and Office of Nuclear Energy (NE).
The formats through which NCSL will provide information include:
- Meetings of NCSL’s Nuclear Legislative Workgroup (NLWG), the State and Tribal Government Working Group (STGWG), the Indian Country Energy and Infrastructure Working Group (ICEIWG), and select tribal leaders;
- State, regional and tribal-specific briefings and stakeholder meetings;
- Technical assistance before state legislative committees; and
- Outreach materials such as briefing papers, web briefs, webinars and newsletters.
The mission of the Office of Environmental Management is to complete the safe cleanup of the environmental legacy brought about from five decades of nuclear weapons development and government-sponsored nuclear energy research.
