The Department of State welcomes the re-election of Ambassador William Lacy Swing as Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) by acclamation. Ambassador Swing has dedicated his career to public service on behalf of the United States and the international community. He has ably led IOM over the past five years, strengthening IOM’s emergency response, its management of complex humanitarian migrant and refugee movements, and further developing IOM’s role as the leader of policy and programs related to global migration.
