Hip Hop International's 12th World Hip Hop Dance Championship set for Las Vegas

National champions from 40 countries to go for the gold

LAS VEGAS, NV UNITED STATES, June 11, 2013 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Culminating a year of national championships in the USA and in more than 40 countries, thousands of the world’s best hip hop dancers will meet at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on August 11, 2013 for the 12th annual World Hip Hop Dance Championship. With the pride of country and gold medals at stake, the top dance crews and MegaCrews will give it their all in action-packed, crowd-pleasing, two minute routines in the hopes of impressing the international panel of judges.

With the 2012 World Champions from Japan and New Zealand defending their titles, the bar has been set high for such nations as Costa Rica, El Salvador, Lebanon, Thailand, Peru, and Ecuador competing for the first time. And if previous years are any indication, it is impossible to predict who will stand in front of their nation’s flag on the winner’s podium and hear their national anthem in front of a capacity crowd at Orleans Arena.

To compete at Orleans Arena, dance crews of 5 to 8 members in Youth, Varsity and Adult Divisions and MegaCrews (15 to 40 dancers) have to prevail in a series of elimination rounds from August 7-9 at Red Rock Resort. The USA crews will compete earlier from August 3-5 at the Red Rock Resort to determine America’s champions. The highest ranking crews remaining will command the stage at Orleans Arena for the World Championship an event that has been called “the Olympics of Hip Hop Dance” for its flag waving pageantry and highly skilled competitors.

The title event which is hip hop dance’s highest achievement will be further highlighted by a special performance by Cirque du Soleil and the presentation of the Living Legend of Hip Hop Award to an iconic figure to be announced soon. Past recipients of the award have included MC Hammer, Toni Basil, Randy Jackson and the Jabbawockeez. Chet Buchanan, host of the #1 morning radio show in Las Vegas, will emcee the event. Also appearing will be the winners of the World Battles an event conducted Saturday, August 10 at the Red Rock Resort which features head to head dance battles among the world’s top bboys, poppers, lockers and all stylers.

The event is organized by Hip Hop International, whose mission is to inspire young people and pay homage to street dance’s roots with integrity and an authentic voice. HHI is the creator of “America’s Best Dance Crew,” which recently concluded a successful seven seasons run on MTV.
