Marine News: Jeppesen's Michael Bergmann to Address 2013 Nor-Shipping Conference, Elected President of International Marine Electronics Association

Jeppesen's Maritime Industry director Michael Bergmann will make a presentation at the upcoming 2013 Nor-Shipping Conference, June 4-7 in Oslo, Norway. Bergmann will make his presentation during a conference session on Operational Efficiency Technology, addressing industrial venture and merger/acquisition strategies as they relate to the global maritime industry.

Bergmann was recently elected to a two-year term as president of CIRM (Comite International Radio-Maritime), the International Association for Marine Electronics Companies. CIRM has been promoting marine electronics for efficient shipping and the safety of life at sea for 75 years. CIRM represents the industry in developing international regulations and standards and provides technical and industrial advice to the international organizations. In 2007, multinational transportation solutions provider Jeppesen acquired C-MAP, a worldwide provider of digital maritime data services. The companys primary office focused on Commercial solutions was based in Egersund, Norway, where it remains in operation today. Another acquisition of a Silicon Valley, California-based voyage and vessel optimization company followed in 2008, creating a strong marine division for Jeppesen, a subsidiary of global transportation giant Boeing.
