McCormick Place Purchases 130 million kWh of Wind
McCormick Place officials recently announced a commitment to purchase enough renewable energy certificates (RECs) to match 100% of the facility's annual electricity usage. As the country's largest convention center, this commitment is estimated to account for 130 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year. The announcement came as the convention center hosted the 2013 WINDPOWER Conference and Exhibition in May. The purchased RECs will be 100% Green-e certified and generated from wind power.
