Energy Secretary to Speak on Delivering Successful Oil and Gas Industry at London Briefing
Oil & Gas UK has secured The Rt Hon Edward Davey MP, secretary of state for energy and climate change, to address delegates at its breakfast briefing in London on 9 May. He will speak on the subject of 'Delivering a Successful UK Offshore Oil and Gas Industry - Government Policy in Practice'.
Malcolm Webb, Oil & Gas UK’s chief executive, said: “The UK oil and gas sector is the single biggest industrial contributor to the economy and we are delighted to welcome the country’s senior energy policy maker to speak about it at our forthcoming breakfast briefing. Delegates will benefit from hearing first hand about the Government’s commitment to promoting investment in the UK’s oil and gas reserves with the Coalition having established a new approach on tax and published its industrial strategy for oil and gas for the long-term.”
Following his keynote address, Mr Davey will participate in a panel session, where he will be joined by the co-chairs of Oil & Gas UK, James Edens, vice-president and managing director of CNR International (U.K.) Limited, and Gordon Ballard, chairman and country manager at Schlumberger UK Limited.
The energy secretary's appearance follows the launch of 'Energising the Nation's Future', Oil & Gas UK's new campaign to raise awareness and deepen understanding of the industry, its economic contribution, technological innovation, and skilled and valued job creation.
