Western Hemisphere: Vice President Joe Biden To Deliver Remarks at the 43rd Conference on the Americas
Vice President Joe Biden will deliver remarks at the 43rd Annual Washington Conference on the Americas, co-hosted by the U.S. Department of State and the Council of the Americas, on May 8, 2013, at the Department of State. The conference will also feature remarks by Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Stephen Breyer, Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, Senator John McCain, Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, Acting Secretary of Commerce Rebecca Blank, Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Roberta Jacobson, World Bank Managing Director Sri Mulyani Indrawati, and Freeport-McMoRan Copper Gold president and CEO Richard Adkerson. Pre-set time for cameras is 5:30 a.m. from the 23rd Street entrance. First access time for journalists and still photographers is 8:00 a.m. from the 23rd Street entrance. Final access time for all press is 10:30 a.m. from the 23rd Street entrance.

Media representatives may attend this event upon presentation of one of the following: (1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center); (2) a media-issued photo identification card; or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification card (driver's license, passport). Press should allow adequate time (at least 15 minutes) to process through security.
Please note that conducting interviews in the hallways of the Department of State is prohibited.
