WASHINGTON, D.C., May 10, 2013 — The development of anti-bullying initiatives will be examined at the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division 2013 Spring Conference on May 16-18 at the Graves 601 Hotel in Minneapolis.

According to the National Association of School Psychologists, 15 to 30 percent of students are bullies or victims of bullying. The program, “Anti-Bullying Laws: Present Status and Future Possibilities,” from 10:05 to 11:05 a.m. Friday, May 17, will explore what is possible under the law to keep students safe from bullying.

Other program highlights include:

“Financial Elder Abuse — Strategies in Litigating a Case from Start to Finish” — A panel of experts will discuss strategies and ethics in litigating financial elder abuse cases, provide tips to attorneys undertaking such cases and alert attorneys to available pro bono opportunities. Friday, May 17, 8:55 – 9:55 a.m.

“The Changing Landscape of Marriage Equality: From Ballot Box to Supreme Court” — A panel of attorneys will examine recent ballot initiatives, legislative action and developments in the courts involving marriage equality, including the Supreme Court cases Hollingsworth v. Perry (Proposition 8) and United States v. Windsor (Defense of Marriage Act). Friday, May 17, 11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
