Securities regulators in California have approved Mosaic to offer $100 million of solar investments to California residents. Mosaic is an online marketplace that connects investors to solar projects. The company's mission is to transform energy financing by allowing the public to directly invest in solar projects, an opportunity previously limited to major investors and banks. Mosaic allows California and New York residents to invest in solar for as little as $25. In January, Mosaic launched its first public investment project which sold out in less than 24 hours and raised $300,000. Since opening, Mosaic has raised over $1.1 million from more than 1,000 investors.
