CHICAGO - Writer Margaret Sullivan builds library spaces for 21st-century learners in the archived webinar “Envisioning New Library Spaces” now available as part of the American Association of School Librarians’ (AASL) professional development archive, eCOLLAB

During the webinar, Sullivan demonstrates observation skills school librarians can use to conceptualize the future of their school library. Sullivan stresses the importance of watching students as they interact while working, discerning what tools the students choose to use and watching what activities naturally lead them into exploration. Participants are guided to use those observations to direct the space planning of their school library and move toward space ideas that speak to the next generation of learners. The webinar complements AASL’s newest publication “Library Spaces for 21st-Century Learners: A Planning Guide for Creating New School Library Concepts” written by Sullivan.

AASLmembers can access the webinar via eCOLLABby logging into the AASL website using their ALA-provided website login.  Nonmembers who wish to view the webinar and other archived professional development can receive access to eCOLLAB resources with an annual subscription of $199 per year.
