CHICAGO — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) is seeking a member editor for its open-access, peer-reviewed, electronic research journal, the Journal of Research on Libraries and Young Adults (JRLYA). JRLYA publishes high-quality research on library services to young adults quarterly. The position term would begin June 1, 2013. The deadline for applications is May 1, 2013.

The member editor will be responsible for the textual and graphic content of the continuous publication and will work closely with YALSA’s Research Journal Advisory Board, member groups and YALSA’s communications manager to solicit manuscripts and oversee the peer review process. The member editor will also edit and proof all copy for each issue.

Applicants must have editorial experience, excellent communications skills, the technical capacity to work in an online environment, familiarity with the research process and be YALSA members. Experience in library service to young adults and knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style is preferred.

The term of the appointment is one year beginning June 1, 2013, with the option to extend the contract for another year. The member editor will receive an honorarium of $500 per issue and $500 to attend each of ALA’s Midwinter and Annual Conferences. Please note that this is not a staff position and does not include salary or benefits.
