CHICAGO— Building learning environments that empower 21st-century students will be explored in “Envisioning New Library Spaces,” a new webinar from the American Association of School Librarians (AASL). The webinar will be offered at 11:30 a.m., 12: 30 p.m. and 2:30 Central on April 2 to allow school librarians across the country to attend at their convenience. To register, visit  www.ala.org/aasl/ecollab/upcoming.

Presented by Margaret Sullivan, the webinar will provide attendees with observation skills to help them conceptualize the future of their school libraries. Sullivan will demonstrate the importance of watching students as they interact while working and discerning what tools they choose to use, where they enjoy spending time and what activities naturally lead them into exploration. Participants will learn to use these observations to direct the space planning of their school library and move toward space ideas that speak to the next generation of learners. The webinar complements AASL's newest publication, “Library Spaces for 21st-Century Learners: A Planning Guide for Creating New School Library Concepts,” written by Sullivan.

Envisioning New Library Spaces” is open to all. Registrations will be accepted until 6 p.m. on Monday, April 1, and a seat in the webinar is guaranteed to the first 100 attendees. To register, visit www.ala.org/aasl/ecollab/upcoming.
