UKOOA Statement on the Creation of Logic, the New Industry Body for Competitiveness

LOGIC, the new organisation backed by Government and the offshore oil and gas Industry to sharpen competitiveness amongst Industry suppliers and contractors, will be good news for the UK Continental Shelf and good news for the UK as a whole, says the UK Offshore Operators Association (UKOOA).

Responding to todays announcement by Energy Minister Helen Liddell at Offshore Europe, James May, UKOOAs Director-General, said: By building on the valuable work of CRINE and CRINE Network, LOGIC will provide the future stimulus for the collaborative working and innovative thinking necessary for the continuing improvement of the UK Industrys competitiveness.

There are real wins to be gained by understanding how the supply chain works and how to manage it more efficiently. The cost savings achieved will not only help to prolong UK offshore production in a mature operating environment but will also ensure that the products and services offered by UK companies are well placed to compete on the international market.

Improving the export performance of UK contractors and suppliers will be key to maintaining the many tens of thousands of jobs in this sector in the longer term.
