Oil & Gas UK Seminar Highlights Subsea Challanges

Oil & Gas UK launches the first of its new seminar series next week with a morning session on the subsea sector and the efforts being made in the UK to pursue innovative technologies for use both in the North Sea and overseas.
The Subsea Technology Seminar, sponsored by Aker Kvaerner, is being held next Thursday (May 31) at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre. The speakers will discuss the pioneering technologies being developed and implemented in the UK Continental Shelf and will inform attendees of the challenges that the UK subsea industry faces to retain its status as world-leader.
Chaired by David Pridden, chief executive of Subsea UK, the seminar will focus on the value and importance of the industry to the UK and highlight the vital role subsea technology is expected to play in the future for both operators and contractors.
Speakers at the event include Dave Turner, BPs North Sea subsea manager; Neil Poxen, managing director of the Industry Technology Facilitator (ITF); Ian Stevenson, managing director of Technips North Sea and Canada; and Brett Howard, Technips offshore engineering division manager. They will be joined on a discussion panel by Richard Marsh, managing director of Tritech, which supplies sensors and tools for the subsea vehicles markets.
