Oil & Gas UK comment on S-92 helicopter fleet
Robert Paterson, Oil & Gas UK's health and safety director, said: "On 09 October, Oil & Gas UK was made aware of reported cracks in some S-92 gearbox feet. We have passed this information on to the Helicopter Task Group, which will discuss this issue at its next meeting at the end of October.
"In the meantime, we are liaising closely with the helicopter operators. As we understand from the alert service bulletin that was issued in relation to this, all gearboxes which are affected are being immediately replaced.
"The helicopter operators are currently operating a precautionary daily inspection regime for this aircraft type, in line with the manufacturers recommendation.
"The safety of our offshore workforce is our number one priority, and through the Helicopter Task Group, we are keeping in close contact with the helicopter operators and the manufacturers."
