Industry’s Data Management Service Appoints Four New Directors to Board

ISSUED ON BEHALF OF COMMON DATA ACCESS LIMITED  (CDA)

Common Data Access Limited (CDA), the UK oil and gas industry’s shared data management service, has announced the appointment of four new members to its Board. The move to expand membership of the CDA Board will strengthen the organisation’s ability to co-ordinate, steer and guide data management policies as well as foster further industry co-operation in the management of information derived from subsurface data.

Three new board directors have been elected to the Board from the CDA council, which comprises representatives from more than 50 member companies from the exploration and production sector. George Rorie, head of subsurface and wells information management for Shell Upstream International – Europe, is joined by Roy Rees-Williams, team lead - records management, Nexen Petroleum (U.K.) and Anne Hegarty, leader data management, at Statoil ASA. Jeremy Lockett, exploration manager, Centrica Plc, has been appointed to strengthen the representation for the members of Oil & Gas UK’s exploration forum.

Malcolm Fleming, chief executive of CDA, said: “I’m delighted that George, Roy, Anne and Jeremy have agreed to make this commitment to support our work and contribute to the evolution of CDA’s business as we meet the challenges ahead. Having them on the Board will bring to our discussions diverse skills and experience drawn from a wide cross section of the upstream community that includes a major operator, an independent oil company, a Norwegian company and a relatively new player in the North Sea. Their knowledge will help us not only to promote a better understanding of the role of CDA amongst UK continental shelf stakeholders but also to formalise the data management discipline by developing comprehensive standards for competency and training.”
