InterFACE Promotions Director Pays Homage to Former Client in Documentary Series
InterFACE's New England Promotions Director featured in TVOne's "Celebrity Crime Files" to Honor Slain Client Merlin Santana
/EINPresswire.com/ On November 9th, 2002, Hollywood lost a bright, rising star to the hands of senseless violence. Merlin Santana, a handsome young Dominican-American actor, was making his mark in the entertainment industry after having starred in successful sitcoms like Getting By, and The Cosby Show as a child actor, and most notably found fame as a young adult on hit series Moesha, and The Steve Harvey Show. Unfortunately his career was brought to an abrupt halt when he became the object of a young girl's rage, and Merlin was gunned down by her associates after she falsely claimed that he assaulted her.
This unfortunate story was recently covered by the new hit TVOne series "Celebrity Crime Files" a true crime series that covers the tragic stories of several urban performers including Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, and Jam Master Jay. The series features interviews with some of the star's closest friends and family, and for Merlin, this included InterFACE's own New England Promotions Director Vickie Frankmano, who was Merlin's talent manager for over 15 years during her time as a personal manager, and also considered him a family friend. "Merlin was one of those clients you take in as your own," Vickie says, "we were really close and we had great relationship."
Santana's episode of "Celebrity Crime Files" aired on Monday, November 26, 2012, and delved deep into the life and career of the young actor, featuring interviews from Frankmano, and fellow actors Countess Vaughn and Deon Richmond. Frankmano was able to use this platform to shed light on the true talent of the young performer, "[Merlin] was probably the best natural actor, meaning non-trained, that I ever saw," recalled Vickie during the series.
The episode also covered, in detail, the series of events that led to Santana's demise. After slipping into a slight career slump after the cancellation of the Steve Harvey Show, Santana and a friend befriended two young women while partying one night. Though Santana and one of the women hit it off well the first night of meeting, the second time they met the initial spark was just not there. Infuriated by the change in temperature, the young woman falsely claimed to her two friends that Santana sexually assaulted her, shortly after which her two friends gunned Merlin down while in a vehicle with a fellow actor friend. After being arrested, the young woman (who was proven to be a troubled runaway teen) confessed to falsely making the claim, and her and the two gunmen were all arrested and sentenced to time in prison.
Sadly, the entertainment industry lost a talented member due to an unnecessary tragedy, his memory will live on through his work, as well as his close family and friends.
