Casino sues gamblers for win linked to unshuffled cards

New Jersey – A New Jersey casino is suing a group of gamblers after they purportedly won over $1.5 million due to an unshuffled deck of cards. As reported by ABC News, the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City has filed the suit claiming the players increased their bets after realizing the decks of cards had a recurring sequence and amassed $1,536,700 in winnings collectively in 41 hands.

The casino is quoted in the report as saying of the matter in a statement, “The gamblers unlawfully took advantage of the Golden Nugget when they caught onto the pattern and ... by passing money to fellow gamblers in order to place bets in excess of posted betting limits.”

The lawsuit also includes allegations against Gemaco playing card company. The case is set to be heard in New Jersey Superior Court Aug. 31.
