Despite Military Threats, Tamils Protest Against Land Seizing. Protests will Continue says Tamil MPs

/EINPresswire.com/ Several hundred Tamils held a rally in Murukandy today (June 26th), protesting Sri Lankan Government taking Tamil's lands. Several Tamil Members of Parliament also joined this rally. Large number of heavily armed military personal were seen in that area. Earlier, it was reported that military personal went house to house threatening people not to attend this rally.
Our correspondent reports that the rally ended without any incidents. An earlier rally in Jaffna was attacked by the security forces. There are reports that the momentum is building in North and East against government taking lands from Tamils. According to Tamil Parliamentarians, similar protests will take place in Batticalow and Mannar.
In the meantime, Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) organized several demonstrations around the world to show solidarity with today's rally inside Sri Lanka. Large number of Tamils assembled in major cities and outside the United Nations headquarters in New York and outside UNESCO in Paris. TGTE also handed over a Memo to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon urging him to take steps to stop Sri Lankan government taking Tamil's lands.
