Oil & Gas UK Welcomes Energy Secretary to Aberdeen
Senior representatives from the UK oil and gas industry today (21 June) met the Secretary of State for Energy, Ed Davey MP, in Aberdeen. Malcolm Webb, Oil & Gas UK’s chief executive, said: “It was good to welcome Mr Davey to Aberdeen to brief him on developments in the oil and gas sector which supplies half of Britain’s energy, is the country’s biggest industrial investor and employs almost half a million people. The meeting focused on ways in which the industry can work with the government so that the UK can reap the full economic benefit in terms of jobs, energy and tax and export revenues. We look forward to continuing to work with Mr Davey in the future both in his role as head of DECC and chairman of Pilot, the government-industry body which works to promote the long-term sustainable future of the UK oil and gas industry.”
