Philadelphia Phillies Purchase 100% Renewables

The Philadelphia Phillies have agreed to purchase more than 22 million kilowatt-hours of solar and wind renewable energy certificates (RECs), matching 100% of their electricity demand for two years. As part of the purchase, the team will acquire a share of the RECs from the largest solar project in Pennsylvania, a 6 megawatt ground-mounted project currently under development in Lancaster County.

The REC purchase agreement is part of the Phillies' "Red Goes Green" initiative, which the team started in 2008 when the Phillies became the first Major League Baseball team to join the EPA's Green Power Partnership program.
