Engage with® Skills Training Programs is a nonprofit initiative of the Mental Health Association of Maryland on a mission to enrich the lives of older adults and those who support them by improving continuity of care. We focus on helping long-term care facilities and those that care for and/or support older adults improve in four key foundational pillars that achieve true continue of care: Relationships, Staffing, Communication and Teamwork. We accomplish this by equipping frontline care workers and those that support older adults with the necessary skills they need to engage with and care for the older adults within their care. Our virtual online skills training platform provides caregivers the ability to access skills training from any device, all led by a live, licensed clinical instructor. We find that when these four key areas are significantly improved, facilities experience better resident outcomes, have appropriate staffing levels to care for and support older adults, create purposeful communication amongst team members, experience high levels of staff satisfaction and develop stronger relationships between residents, their families, and their partners in care.
