Alliant Techsystems Wins $20 Million Marine Order

August 18, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Alliant Techsystems (NYSE: ATK) has received a $20 million order from the U.S. Marine Corps to produce scalable plate carriers and components.

The carriers, which are used in wearable systems offering ballistic protection, are scheduled for delivery by the end of January 2010, and will be produced by the company’s recently acquired Eagle Industries subsidiary.

According to Eagle Industries, which designed them in 2008, the SPC are meant to maximize agility, while relieving heat and weight stress due to carrying individual combat loads in arduous environments.

Minneapolis-based Alliant Techsystems is an aerospace and defense company with more than 18,000 employees in 22 states, Puerto Rico and internationally.
