TELFORD, PENNSYLVANIA, UNITED STATES, May 1, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Kebony® Collection is scheduled to debut in mid May primarily as an aesthetically pleasing exterior product line. In addition to the exterior products already offered by reSAWN TIMBER co.--including designs on Western Red Cedar, Accoya, and Cypress--the Kebony® Collection combines the inherent technology of high quality, modified Kebony® wood with reSAWN's modern finishing techniques.

While there will be CHARRED Kebony® shou sugi ban designs, the focus of this collection is to create beautiful exterior siding that will weather evenly and to the desired aesthetic. Due to the density and added strength of Kebony® wood, it will also be offered as decking material.

Developed in Norway, the Kebony® technology is an environmentally friendly, patented process, which enhances the properties of sustainable softwood with a bio-based liquid. The process permanently modifies the wood cell walls giving Kebony® premium hardwood characteristics and a rich brown color.

The Kebony® process begins by impregnating the raw wood with furfuryl aldehyde, which changes the polymer structure of the wood causing it to swell. Next, the wood is cured and dried to lock the swollen cells in place and give the wood enhanced strength. Finally, the resulting wood has reduced hygroscopicity and is permanently more dimensionally stable.

With its natural high performance characteristics, Kebony® wood receives added weathering benefits with reSAWN's shou sugi ban process. With origins dating back to 1700s Japan, the modern iteration of shou sugi ban provides an extra layer of protection against rot, insects, and other moisture related damage. reSAWN's award-winning CHARRED collection has a proven record of success in aesthetics and performance, and lends itself perfectly to a structurally superior product like Kebony®.
