Fierce Innovation Awards: Telecom Edition Program Announces Winners; Casa Systems Receives Top Recognition
Casa Systems Recognized for Leadership in "Cable and Video Network" Category With DOCSIS 3.1-Compliant CCAP Solution; Also Takes "Best in Show: Best Green Installation" Honors
/EINPresswire.com/ -- ANDOVER, MA -- (Marketwired) -- 11/17/15 -- Casa Systems, a worldwide leader in next-generation cable edge technology, announced today that it has been recognized by this year's Fierce Innovation Awards: Telecom Edition, a unique industry awards program powered by the publishers of FierceWireless, FierceTelecom and FierceCable. Casa Systems received top honors for its market-leading Converged Cable Access Platform (CCAP) in the category "Cable and Video Network", as well as an overall award of "Best in Show: Best Green Installation" category.
Winners were selected by an exclusive panel of judges, which included: Jeff Cologna, Strategic Partnerships, U.S. Cellular Product & Innovation; Andrew Ip, Senior Vice President of Optimum Labs, Cablevision System Corporation; Dan Murphy, Director, Verizon Innovation Program; Mattias Fridström, Vice President & Head of Technology, TeliaSonera International Carrier; Robert Howald, Vice President of Network Architecture, Comcast; Ron Marquardt, Ph.D., Vice President of Technology, Innovation & Architecture, Sprint; David A. Mayo, Senior Vice President of Technology, T-Mobile USA; and Michael Weston, Senior Executive, Verizon.
Judges evaluated submissions based on technology innovation, financial impact, market validation, ability to integrate into existing network environments, and end-user customer experience.
Casa Systems is being recognized for its industry-leading and innovative C100G solution. Initially launched in 2013, the C100G was the first integrated CCAP to enable service providers to deliver voice, video, and high-speed data over one platform. Casa was also first to support the full DOCSIS 3.1 protocol for greater spectrum utilization. With DOCSIS 3.1 enabled in both the upstream and downstream on the C100G, operators can deploy gigabit services today while being well-positioned to scale and provide additional services down the road -- without the need to rip and replace switch cards, line cards or PHY modules.
Service providers deploying the C100G have demonstrated significant OPEX savings in the areas of energy, facilities, maintenance, and management. Simultaneously, they have been able to offer their end users higher speed tiers and a better customer experience. In 2015, a top-tier service provider in North America became the first to deliver video plus high-speed data over a CCAP platform, based on Casa's C100G.
"The C100G is setting the standard for how to deploy gigabit services today. Service providers must be able to provide the bandwidth required as video on demand, online gaming, and other applications grow in popularity, while also being cognizant of operating and energy costs," said Paul Hanna, Vice President of Global Marketing, Casa Systems. "We're excited to see this award recognition from Fierce underscore the market need for innovative solutions like our C100G to help service providers address the challenges of the ultra broadband era head on."
