Seminar to Share Lessons of Successful Supply Chain Practices
Experienced professionals from the oil and gas industry and other sectors will share their expertise in managing relationships with suppliers to ensure products and services meet delivery targets at a supply chain seminar organised by Oil & Gas UK in association with the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS). Malcolm Webb, Oil & Gas UK’s chief executive, will open the full-day seminar, sponsored by Dana Petroleum Plc, at Aberdeen’s Exhibition and Conference centre on September 18.
David Ripley, Oil & Gas UK’s business director, explains: “Over the past four decades the supply chain supporting the North Sea oil and gas industry has proved it can change, adapt and thrive in the face of the increasing technological demands of subsea developments, growing global competition and the harsh operating conditions presented by the UKCS. Understanding and sharing the lessons learnt from meeting these challenges is crucial to helping the supply chain maintain and develop capabilities to sustain its business success.”
Representatives from contractor and operator companies will explain how they co-ordinate and integrate all aspects of the supply chain, including forecasting, procurement, logistics and inventory management for major North Sea projects to meet current commitments, accommodate changes such as acquisitions and mergers and plan for future technology requirements. Participating companies include Premier Oil Plc, Apache North Sea Limited, Technip UK Limited, AMEC, Global Energy Group and Dana Petroleum Plc as well as CIPS, which will update delegates on its work aimed at developing high standards in procurement and supply chain management.
Delegates will also have the chance to hear from guest speakers who include representatives from Rolls-Royce, the construction firm, EC Harris, and the Scotch Whisky Association about lessons they have learned to better manage current resources and plan for future needs. Following the seminar attendees will be given the opportunity to participate in panel discussions with guest speakers. There are still places available at the seminar and bookings are being taken online at http://www.oilandgasuk.co.uk/events/event.cfm?frmEventID=485/
