State Police Investigating Fatal Hit-And-Run Crash In Baltimore County

(HALETHORPE, MD) – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 67-year-old in Baltimore County early Sunday morning.

The deceased is identified as Junior Dunkley, 67, of Owings Mills, Maryland. He was the driver of a Toyota Tacoma involved in the incident. He was transported by ambulance to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland, where he was pronounced deceased.  

Around 2:23 a.m. on Sunday, troopers from the Maryland State Police Golden Ring Barrack responded to the area of inner loop Interstate 695 at Wilkens Avenue for a report of a two-vehicle crash. According to a preliminary investigation, the Tacoma, operated by Dunkley, was parked on the right shoulder of I-695. Dunkley was outside of his vehicle, attempting to change a flat tire, when he was struck by another vehicle, described as a red 2005-2012 Toyota Tacoma. The driver of the red Toyota Tacoma failed to remain on the scene.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the investigation.
