Kodiak Man Pending Trial For Multiple Sexual Assaults

(Kodiak, AK) – On May 9, 2019, a Kodiak grand jury returned a 19 count indictment on Jherome Ladera. The indicted counts span a period of two years and involve four alleged victims. The indictment charges 11 counts of Sexual Assault in the First Degree, 3 counts of Attempted Sexual Assault in the First Degree, 3 Counts of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree, a Count of Assault in the Second Degree, and a Count of Assault in the Third Degree.

The case is being prosecuted by the Kodiak District Attorney’s Office. If convicted at trial, Mr. Ladera faces up to 99 years imprisonment. The charges in the indictment and information are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. Mr. Ladera is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Mr. Ladera currently resides in the community on house arrest after posting a $20,000 cash performance bond. His next scheduled court date is for a pre-trial conference hearing on April 22, 2021, at 4:00PM in Kodiak Superior Court.
