U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos Congratulates National Teacher of the Year Sydney Chaffee

Today, the Council of Chief State School Officers announced Sydney Chaffee, a ninth grade humanities teacher at Codman Academy Charter Public School in Dorchester, Massachusetts, as the 2017 National Teacher of the Year. U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos released the following statement:

The Council of Chief State School Officers first named a National Teacher of the Year in 1952, making it the nation's oldest program of its kind. In her role as the National Teacher of the Year, Chaffee will spend the next year advocating for the profession across the United States.
