May 19, 2010 (FinancialWire) — Ivanhoe Energy, Inc. (TSX: IE) (NASDAQ: IVAN) has promoted David Dyck to the position of president and chief operating officer of the firm. Robert Friedland will continue to serve as co-chairman and CEO and will work together with Dyck in leading Ivanhoe's strategic and financing initiatives.
Dyck joined the company in October 2009 as president and CEO of Ivanhoe Energy Canada to spearhead the firm’s Tamarack Project and other heavy-oil growth initiatives in Western Canada.
He was subsequently appointed EVP for capital markets at Ivanhoe Energy.
Dyck was formerly SVP of finance, and CFO with Calgary-based Western Oil Sands. Immediately prior to joining Ivanhoe Energy, Dyck was executive director and CEO of LeaRidge Capital, where he provided financial advisory services to companies in the energy and service sectors.
